At Athletics North East we believe we need to encourage the next generation of sports stars. The best way to do this is to involve children from a young age, our courses are designed to suit all children from beginner to the more advanced athlete.
We believe that every child who attends a sports session should receive coaching to help them reach their potential . Our courses focus on developing core and fundamental skills which will then enable the children to gain in confidence and ability.
We understand how important sport is for health and fitness, in participating we will encourage them to keep active and to enjoy the courses. While helping them to understand taking in athletics can be fun, as well as good for their health.
Our Camps are suitable for ages 8 years and over and of all abilities. Groups are split by both age and ability allowing for athletes to either try athletics or have a week of moderate training in preparation for competitions.
All groups take part in a full range of athletics events across the week as well as Intermittent games and team sports to maintain variation and interest.
During the week the athletes take part in UK Athletics Awards schemes, and all athletes will be given a certificate with the chance to buy badges.
Athletics North East Goodie Bags will be given to all participants who attend for all 3 days

In February 2017 we will be running our next Pole Vault Training Camp at Gateshead College Academy for Sport. This is a perfect opportunity for you to learn everything you need to know about pole vaulting. You will get the chance to train alongside athletes who are of a similar ability to yourself and work with our experienced athletes and coaches. Our Training Camp is open to all club members and non-club members. You can be a complete beginner or an experienced vaulter, either way we can help.
For ages 8 years and over
So far from our previous camps with have managed to train over 40 new vaulters with some of them having instant success. Claudia Barkes of Barnard Castle School is a perfect example of this. She had previously had a very successful career as a GB gymnast, but unfortunately due to injury she could no longer continue. Claudia attended our training camp in February 2016 and has never looked back since. She has already jumped 3.40m and has represented the North East at the UK School Games coming a very respectful 4th place, competed at English Schools Nationals and many more. Claudia is naturally talented and now loves the sport, she says making that first step and attending the training camp was a perfect introduction to the sport for her. “You never know until you give it a try”
Things we will cover:-
Cost is £60 for the 3 days
Each day will run from 10am till 3pm and everyone that attends will receive a North East Pole Vault Academy t-shirt.
