NEMAA – (Vets) League Meetings @ Monkton Stadium
Jul 31 @ 6:00 pm
The North East Masters Athletics Association (NEMAA) or Vets League is a very friendly, low key meeting, designed to encourage the more “mature” athletes” to have a go at track and field disciplines instead of the routine road and cross-country races they usually compete in.

At £3 for up to three events it’s also a very cheap way of having a go at various events. New members need to join NEMAA by paying (Before January £10) £20

Application form can be found here (this is for the calendar year of 2017). Further details of the 6 events can be found on the NEMAA website.

We currently have a good number of athletes who would qualify and it would be great if we can drum up enough interest in these events from our ‘veteran’ athletes to come and ‘have a go’, we will be there to support you, so don’t feel intimidated, it’s friendly, fun and a bit of a laugh.  Even if you have never competed at some of these events, don’t worry, neither have many others.   There is a club league tally over the 6 events and with a good turnout each Monday, Birtley AC could do really well this year!, but we need you to come and have a try. You will be placed in heats along with people of same pace and ability where possible.

There are 6 meetings of competition starting at 6pm, although you will need to arrive and register which events you want to try before competition starts.  At each meeting the events are slightly different as below:

Please note:- there are six fixtures in 2017.   This year the first track event will vary between a sprint and a long distance  race.  e.g. On May 15th the 100m is first track event but on May 22nd the 1500m is the first track event  and on July 17th the 3000m is first track event.

In 2017 the throws will be seeded into two groups .

Group A =  Discus, Hammer and Javelin for competitors throwing further than 20 meters…. Shot further than 7.00m.                  Competitors  throwing slightly less than these distances may wish to compete in Group A depending on  the number of entrants.

Group B  will be for competitors throwing less than the distances listed in Group A.       Please declare on Championships entry form or at League registration the groups in which you wish to compete.

Competitors are advised not to enter Group A in one throw and  Group B in another throw  at the same fixture.
