The North Eastern Cross Country Championships is the most important regional fixture of our local winter calendar. To win a medal at this event is a fantastic achievement – just look at previous medal winners such as Brendan Foster, Steve Cram, Jill Hunter, Kirsty Wade and more recently, Nick McCormick, Laura Weightman, Ross Murray and Johanna Jackson.

The Championships consists of the following events:-

  • u13 Boys 3.1K 11.00am
  • u13 Girls 3.1K 11.15am
  • u15 Boys 3.9K 11.30am
  • u15 Girls 3.9K 11.45am
  • u17/20 Women 4.6K 12.00
  • u20 Men 8.4K 12.20pm
  • Senior men 12.4K 1.00pm
  • Senior Women 8.4K 1.55pm
  • u17 Men 6.1K 2.30pm

The Middlesbrough & Cleveland Harriers Centenary Trophy is award to best overall club. The JC Kennedy Trophy is awarded to best women overall performance. The Gallery Jewellers Trophy is awarded to best men overall performance.

Even more importantly, this is also our Club Championship Race – the first athlete past the post in each age group becomes Club Champion for the year (provided they complete 8 races in the season). Don’t forget to give it your all on the day, it’s a nice trophy!

Entries now closed, a full list of entrants can be viewed here.

The venue, Temple Park at South Shields, has ample parking, although this is a Pay & Display car-park and costs 70p for the day. The course is fairly flat, with just a couple of short hills to provide a bit of challenge. New runners, don’t forget to check out our Advice for new athletes guide.

Here is a map of the course, we look forward to seeing you there:-
