Donington Park lies just to the west of East Midlands airport, and is accessed via the A453 road.Normally there is only one main entrance to the park, but an extra entrance, complete with temporary traffic lights will operate for the event. Both entrances will be used; the main entrance being used by those approaching from the M1, and the second (Download gate) entrance being used by those from the west & Southwest.

    Travel directions From the North

  • If travelling on the M1, exit using junction 24 and follow signs for East Midlands Airport / A453, as follows.
  • M1 Southbound Exit at Junction 24 and take the 4th exit off.
  • Follow the A453 Ashby Road Southbound.
  • At the Junction of the A453 Ashby Road and the M1 J23a take the 3rd exit and continue along the A453 Ashby Road Southbound.
  • Travel approx. 3 miles until the Junction of A453 and Hill top traffic lights.
  • At this point traffic will be turned right to enter the Site via the Main Entrance.
  • Should any problems mean the above route is closed or very congested, the contingency route will be via the A50 and through Castle Donington. (note this is not recommended as the normal route as it can get very congested due to the traffic light junction in the town)
  • If travelling from the North West via the M6 and A50, continue to the roundabout at J24 and follow the directions above.
  • If any problem or congestion on the actual site occurs, then you may be directed to use the other gate, by the Traffic management Officers who will be manning the junctions. Signage should be in place on all approach routes to indicate site entrances.

    Site and event Access.

(Please see the associated Site Overview layout plan)
All cars parked via the main gate, or the Download gate, (including disabled permit holders) will be charged a £5 parking fee, paid once you have entered the site, at the pay points shown on the site overview plan.

Please note that any unbooked / permitted coaches or minibuses will be charged the permit fee on entry, but will be routed to the western coach park area.

All pedestrians should follow the defined pedestrian route (shown in purple on the site overview plan) to reach the event area. Please note that it is around ¾ of a mile from the furthest car parks to the event area. Toilets are available in the pit stop café and close to the pedestrian crossing, en route to the event area. Portaloos are available in the start / finish area and club tent area.

The location of the various marquees, and refreshments etc are shown on the event layout.
