Durham Relays 2017 @ Maiden Castle Sports Centre
Jan 15 @ 10:15 am
IMPORTANT UPDATE! Please note that due to the recent weather conditions the location for the Durham Cathedral XC Relays event has been moved to the University’s Playing Fields behind the Maiden Castle Sports Centre. The course will remain as 2 laps of flat grass terrain, totalling ~3,000m. All events and timings remain unchanged and will go ahead as previously advertised. The Start/Finish will be positioned on the field immediately across the wooden footbridge that leads from the Sports Centre/Boathouse to the playing fields. Toilets and refreshments will be available in the Sports Centre.

PARKING: Parking at the Sports Centre is available for race officials, marshalls, helpers and those dropping off club tents. All other athletes/supporters should park in the City as if using the original course – the new location is only a short distance further along the river from the Racecourse.

This event also includes the NEMAA Relay Champs. Click on the pic below for full details.

Signals Relays (NECAA Champs) 2017 @ Hetton Lyons Country Park
Feb 18 @ 12:00 pm – 2:30 pm
A full prospectus can be downloaded here. There is limited parking at the headquarters, which this year is reserved for Officials.

Competitors’ cars will be directed to the south car park and industrial estate. (post code DH5 0RH) The future of this race at this venue depends largely on car park management therefore it is imperative that competitors try to car share wherever possible.

From the NORTH on the A19 – take the A690 to Durham then take the slip road to Houghton.
At the roundabout take second exit (this runs alongside the A690).
At the next roundabout turn left along the A182 to Hetton le Hole.
Stay on this road until you reach the B1285 and turn left – the car park is about 300 metres along this road.

From the SOUTH on the A19 – take the slip road to B1285 (Dalton Park).
When you get to the roundabout at Dalton Park take the exit for the B1285 to Murton.
Stay on the B1285 until you get to Hetton le Hole.
The industrial estate and car park is on the right, 300mts before you get to the roundabout with the A182.

1st Birtley Junior XC Relays @ Lord Lawson of Beamish School
Mar 12 @ 10:15 am
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of our athletics club, Birtley AC will be holding a 3 stage XC relay event with awards for the first 3 teams in each category (u11 boys and girls, u13 boys and girls, u15/u17 boys and girls). This is an excellent opportunity for younger athletes to run in what will probably be the last XC of the season. If it proves popular, this may become a permanent fixture and provide much needed competition for the younger age groups in the area. Course details shown on map below.
