Strength and Conditioning – Best Practice with Nick Grantham.
Date and time:-
7th May 2014 from 18:00 – 21:00 at Gateshead College, Gateshead Stadium. Neilson Road, Gateshead. NE10 0EF
£25 per candidate – FREE for Birtley AC coaches.
The course is aimed at those looking to enter the profession or those wishing to add best practice strength and conditioning to their existing roles e.g. PE teachers, sports specific coaches, personal trainers, undergraduates etc. During the workshop Nick will discuss the fundamental training principles and their application. The workshops will be a combination of classroom based activities and a practical ‘hands-on’ session. This course is not indicative of a coach’s ability to operate independently and is not a qualification of full professional competency.
Integrated Performance Training – Programming for today’s athletes must have a logical and systematic approach. In this session Nick will explore how to develop a comprehensive system of physical preparation designed to deliver improved levels of functional capacity for the athlete.
Programme Design Principles – To achieve consistent performance outcomes with athletes, coaches must be able to design physical preparation programmes that address the individual needs of the athlete. In this session Nick will discuss the key training variables that can be manipulated to ensure the athlete continues to progress in their training.
Movement Quality Training – Movement Quality Training (MQT) encompasses a range of training interventions (flexibility and mobility, core strength and stability, postural control and stability, strength and power) that helps to prepare the body for athletic movement. In this practical session Nick will show you how to optimise your athletes training in order to allow for effective transfer and expression of force and power.
