Alnwick Harrier League – info

IMPORTANT NOTE – ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS ALLOWED AND NO PARKING ON GRASS VERGES. Anyone caught parking on verges will have a photo taken of their car, may receive a parking ticket, and will be disqualified from the race. PLEASE use the plentiful parking provided at Alnwick Gardens, and car-share wherever possible. Thank you.

With the permission of His Grace the Duke of Northumberland Alnwick are very pleased to be hosting the 5th fixture in the 2015 North East Harrier League cross country series at The Pastures, Alnwick on Saturday 28th February 2015. Many thanks to Alnwick Estates for use of the land and also to Alnwick Gardens for use of the car park. Well done for the hard work by our committee members in getting this fixture organised once again! As with all the Harrier League fixtures the approximate race times are as follows:

  • 12.15 Under 11 Boys & Girls
  • 12.25 Under 13 Boys
  • 12.35 Under 13 Girls
  • 12.45 Under 15 Boys
  • 12.55 Under 15 Girls
  • 13.05 Under 17 & Under 20 Women
  • 13.10 Senior & Veteran Women
  • 13.50 Under 17 Men
  • 14.15 Senior & Veteran Men

  • More information regarding the packs, rules, league tables and lots lots more is at the Harrier League website.

Please note that car parking is at the main Alnwick Gardens car park and will cost a very generous £2. This is slightly cheaper than normal, so many thanks to the Gardens for giving us this concession. When cars arrive at the Gardens please tell the car park attendants that you are here for the Harrier League, otherwise they may charge you the full price to park. Please, please, please do not try to save £2 by parking on the grass verges near to The Pastures! By doing this you will be putting the future hosting of this event in jeopardy and may well be issued with a parking ticket or have your vehicle removed. We requested this last year but sadly some people chose to ignore this. There is extremely limited parking on The Pastures but this is for Race Officials only.

Once on The Pastures please make use of the numerous toilets they have ordered this year. Each year Alnwick have increased the number of portaloos available to meet demand, and this year there’ll be even more to try out! Again please do not use the woods and fields to do your business.

Most of The Pastures is private land belonging to Alnwick Estates, and there may well be livestock in the area including pregnant sheep. So can we ask runners and spectators not to bring dogs along on Saturday. No dogs please.

There will be a catering van on the site selling all sorts of goodies, but please dispose of your litter in the bins and bags provided or take your litter home with you. Alnwick walked the course on Saturday and it’s in pristine condition, so please help by leaving it litter free!

As in previous years Alnwick Harriers will be selling unused Northumberland Coastal Run shirts from last year. All proceeds will go to Prostate Cancer UK. Feel free to drop some change in the collection pots if it’s jingling about in your pockets on Saturday!
