“Heaton Harriers would like to thank you for entering the 2015 edition of the Heaton Memorial Road Race. Your support is very much appreciated and we hope that you will enjoy the day. We would also like to take the opportunity of thanking our race sponsor Quorum Business Park as well as the other organisations who have helped us stage this event including Newcastle City Council and the Freemen, The Royal Grammar School, Start Fitness, Intimation, MM Value, Ringtons and Results Base.

The attached documents include important information which we would be grateful if you could read. It includes a map of the 10KM course but there are also maps of the courses for the Junior Races and a time table of events. We would in particular like to draw your attention to the Terms and Conditions which should be adhered to at all times and the Frequently asked Questions document which should answer most queries you may have. We have also attached the prize list which has changed from last year.

As a reminder, please pick up your bib and chip from Brandling House, RGS, Lambton Road in good time (remember to bring pins!)and please respect the facilities provided by the school. There will be 5 desks with numbers distributed in surname alphabetical order. Right to left these will be:

  • A to D
  • E to H
  • I to O
  • P to S
  • T to z (plus late entries)

  • As in 2014 we will be providing a stall at the RGS selling teas, coffees and cakes (baked by Heaton members) with all proceeds going to the Poppy Appeal so please support this initiative. We raised £450 towards the Poppy Appeal last year and with your help we believe we can exceed beat this. We would invite everyone back to the RGS to enjoy some refreshments after the race and we will endeavour to start the 10K presentation around 12:30.

We would please ask that runners warm up in Exhibition Park rather than on the Moor because the Junior Races use the same start and finish lines. Runners for the 10K will be assembled at the start at approximately 10:50.

Finally we also need to remember that the race is the Memorial Race which has been run since 1920 and is to commemorate the sacrifices made in the 1914-1918 World War. The one minute’s silence at 11:00 is an important and integral part of the tradition of the race. We would therefore appreciate if every effort could be made to observe the silence so please listen out for instructions.

    Have a good race
