On Sunday 16th November, Birtley AC athlete Lydia Turner ran as part of the England team, at the International Cross which took place at Atapuerca. This was probably one of the most interesting cross country courses she’s ever competed on, being an international heritage site, and it’s not often you’ll see international athletes running past mud huts!
Lydia ran her heart out, leading the field from the outset of the race, and crossed the line 18 seconds clear of her England team-mate Harriet Knowles-Jones, finishing the 4k course in an amazing 13:07. Third and fourth places were taken by Jenny Nesbitt and Tess McCormick, resulting in a clean sweep for the England team.
