On Sunday 14th December, Lydia Turner ran her first international race as a Junior woman at the European XC Championships at Samokov in Bulgaria. Lydia ran a fantastic race, finishing in a strong third place behind team-mate Jessica Judd to secure a personal bronze medal and a Gold team medal. There is a full write up of the race in the Evening Chronicle.
Local international athlete Aly Dixon had this to say about Lydia:-
I don’t delay my runs for much, but today I delayed it to watch a young lady who I have had the pleasure of watching since she was about 11years old blossom on the international stage. She made it well worth while by running a great, mature race to earn a well deserved bronze medal at the Euro Cross. I couldn’t be prouder of Lydia if she was a family member. There’s certainly a very bright future for this young lady and I look forward to see it develop. Well done coach Tom for nurturing such a great talent.
