You take the high road and I’ll take… The Angel View Run 9/7/15

There was a great night of athletic trail running last night at The Angel View Run. Once again the night was well organised with a good venue and course. The Angel View hosting the race headquarters, and putting on a light supper for afters once the presentations were completed.

Great sight to see, all the young ones running up the hill, down the other side and back, predominantly Birtley runners as usual at this event, we like to support the local club runs. I didn’t see any of the winners as I was busy with other stuff, but I did see a lot of happy smiling faces.

I had recently managed a couple of runs and felt ok, so early in the week I made the decision to make my first race a local affair, and with some encouragement from Adrian and Chloe decided to do the Angel View Run. No particular targets, just run round and not to stop. It was quite a nice feeling when I took my jumper off and revealed my vest, complete with number attached, to be greeted by the senior club members who were going to be running with me (well, a long way ahead of me).

I ran the whole race, well actually I didn’t, because the leaders were misdirected by an official, and everyone followed them, but supported by Chloe, who ran the whole lot with me and dragged me up the hill I completed the shortened course. It was good for the club though, as we won first man, first woman, first over 35 woman and second over 45 woman.

Great night for me, really happy to have finished a race, my first race since Redcar half marathon last year, and first time I have felt that I am getting over the ‘lorry incident’ ….. Looking forward to the harrier league !

Thanks to the supporters and running mates who shouted me round the course, it brings a little tear to my eye
