Back to the real world, the conditions along the undulating, tough course from Hexham to Ovingham were pretty good, but a little windy. This didn’t hamper us and it was great to see Darren running with a Birtley vest on again and it turned out to be a great comeback for him as he won the race in fine style, leaving everybody behind right from the start.
The rest of the Birtley squad had good runs and we all thoroughly enjoyed this very popular race, which was well organised and marshalled by Tynedale Harriers.
