Heaton Memorial Races 2012

3rd Team, 2nd O45 Male, 3rd Senior Lady, 1st U15 Girl, 1st U17/U20 Woman, course record and a 4th place UK Ranking. Not a bad days work for Birtley AC athletes at Heaton harriers Town Moor Memorial Races 11th November 2012.

17 Birtley athletes put their toes on the line for the Heaton Memorial Races at Newcastle Town Moor, 5 senior women and 6 senior men with 2 under 11 girls in the mixed age group race, 1 under 13 girl, 2 under girls and 1 under 17 woman.

The Club had Tracy Millmore 3rd Woman, Keith Robertshaw 2nd O45 Male, Sophie Burnett 1st Under 15 girl and Lydia Turner 1st Under 17 woman who broke the course record by 45 seconds and is now placed 4th for her age group in the UK over 5k on the roads. The senior women also had success as being 3rd team.

Special mention to Lorna Graham and Lorna Hargreaves who were both having their 1st race in a Birtley vest and Tracy Millmore who had her 1st race as a Birtley AC 1st claim athlete. Also good to see Brian Bailes back from injury to start back on the competition trail again.

Well done to everyone who competed for the Club and here’s to further success in the senior women age groups.
