County Durham Sports Awards

The 2011 County Durham Sports Awards were held last Friday at the County Cricket ground in Chester Le Street. Birtley AC had no fewer than three nominees who were up for Awards in the various categories on offer. Tommy Milmore, who is currently enjoying huge success with his endurance coaching group had been nominated by one of his young athletes, Sophiie Forster, for the prestigious coach of the year award. Next we had Anna Fawcett who had been nominated by her school for her successes in Triathlon and Biathlon. Last but not least we had Lydia Turner, arguably one of our most succesfull young athletes to date, who had been nominated by Durham Sport in the young achievers category. With stiff opposition from all the sports represented (including world champions and international athletes) all three received runners up awards on the night. Congratulations from all at Birtley AC who are extremely proud to have our members recognised in this way. On hand to support our nominees on the night were: Sophie Forster, Lee Millmore, Tracy Millmore, Pauline Lown, Ed Lown, Julie Turner, Neil Fawcett and Grace Turner.
