Ed Lown wins Regional Award

The North East Regional Awards – sponsored by Northern Powergrid – were held on Monday 1st October 2012 at the Gateshead International Stadium. It was the opportunity to celebrate all that is good in our sport, and a chance to say thank you to all the volunteers who make athletics what it is. Ed had been shortlisted to attend, having been nominated by Val Baxter. The Event was held at Gateshead Stadium in the new banqueting suite. There were 12 categories up for grabs and it was the last award to be presented. Two nominees were in contention for the Services to Athletics award which recognises long service, commitment and making a significant contribution to Athletics in the Region. Kevin Flannery of Gateshead Harriers was runner up and Ed received the winner’s trophy, a certificate and a nice bottle of Champagne from Peter Stanley who has coached Jonathon Edwards and Chris Tomlinson at Triple and Long jump. Ed now goes forward with the other 9 regional winners for consideration for the National Award. Well done Ed and good luck at the National Awards.
