London Marathon – a poem by Adrian Dadswell

Miles plenty run to make start line
And with each step life to define,
Time spent striding through wind and rain
To tick that box, hearts warmth to gain.

Long journey south to first off make
With minded souls steps all to take,
Thought of distance quickens the heart
Excited though to be a part.

Pulse beating fast as clock counts down
‘Til start whistle finally blown,
Don’t backward glance, eyes set forward
That finish line to work toward.

Run safe, run strong, with gait so true
Many a spirit with you through,
Those London miles ticked one by one
Then up the Mall and know it’s done.

Many will watch, follow online
Until the cross of finish line,
All just so proud to see the feat
Much love from hearts that for you beat.

For Ruth Dadswell, Sally Riding and Brian Bailes. Proud and in awe of you!
