Minors x/country Jarrow 6/10/2012

An excellent turn out from some of our youngest members who showed good early season form. In excellent running conditions all of our athletes successfully completed the reasonably flat course which included one short hill. Birtley got off to an excellent start in the first race which was for yr4 girls with Tess Graham winning gold (4.12) Jessica Burnett bronze (4.39) followed by 4th Katie Francis (4.47) 9th Naomi Sheavills (5.07) and 11th Mia Openshaw (5.16). Next came the yr4 boys with Chris Coulson just missing out on a medal finishing in 4th place (6.00) 5th Kody Langley (6.10) 7th Harry Brown (6.56) and 9th John Shepherd (7.40) Yr 5 girls next and we again had a winner in Molly Elliott who retained her title from 12 months ago (5.22) and 16th Caitlin Millmore (6.52). Yr 5 boys saw Michael Graham picking up a bronze medal (7.27) Yr6 girls next with Abbie Sheavills finishing in 14th position (9.11) 15th Bethany Craig (9.36) and 16th Jasmine Gill (11.27). Last but not least came the yr6 boys and a bronze medal for Louis Gill (9.13) 5th Lewis McConnell (9.18) and 7th Dillon Openshaw (9.21). A magnificent team effort by all meant that the club retained the David Sharp trophy for the second year. Very well done to all.
