Record Breakers!

Sunday 24th June saw some record breaking performances from young Birtley athletes at the NEYDL league match. The match, the third in a series, took place at Monkton Stadium, and was hosted by Birtley AC, with catering being provided by Eve and Dillon as part of their fund-raising efforts. On a beautiful sunny day, all the youngsters gave their best and many PBs were set, but the following three athletes deserve special mentions for their efforts:-

Abigail Thwaites – a new record for the 800m of 2:28.4

Michael Graham – a new record for javelin of 40.89 (sorry, no action shots of him throwing!)

Molly Elliott who broke her own pole vault record with 2.65m.

Well done to everyone who competed – you’re all champions! Full results can be seen on the NECAA website

Many thanks to Steve Haywood and John Geddes for their amazing photographs – lots more to see on our FB photo page
