Woohoo…only 2 more sleeps ’til Santa comes!

Christmas has really taken my training plan and shredded it. This week I missed my run Monday, Tuesday and Thursday were club nights, and that was all the running I have done; pretty poor really considering what I am aiming to do in 4 months time.

But on a brighter, happier note, as I was running back to the club on Thursday night, I had worked particularly hard on the “handicap” session Tommy had set up for us, so I came back the short way on my own. I may have been mistaken, because the wind was getting up, and the rain was driving in my face, but ….and this is a secret mind, cos I know the big man doesn’t like to be seen, but I swear I heard a very deep jovial Ho Ho Ho!, and there was a blinding flash of light, and just in front of it there was a little red glow. The glow was about the size of a reindeer’s nose!

On Saturday afternoon Dave Coulson and I were walking round the woodland between Birtley and Ouston, and we saw a few hoof prints in the mud. Now I may be wrong, but I reckon that Mr Claus had been plotting his route for deliveries, and marking all the houses that had good boys and girls in!! But remember that is a secret!!!

As I said earlier Christmas has played havoc with my training schedule, and so I am hoping to get back focused on the running and cycling during the holidays. Anyone who fancies a run or ride, text me if you have my number or leave a comment on the bottom of this page, and we can sort something, cos I am now starting to need company for the long ones…….The mileage starts going up now!!

Did anyone notice the slight factual inaccuracy in last week’s entry?? The website I researched was out of date, and the reference to the male world record holder was wrong. Adrian was the sharp eyed anorak who spotted the error. So, go and ask him who I really meant, test his knowledge…..even ask him what the time was!! If you really want to catch him out, ask him what time he thinks I will complete in, or even how much of the 26.25 miles I will manage!

So anyway everybody, happy running, and hope Santa is really good to you all, and I hope to see some of you over the holidays…….in your new running gear! Merry Xmas to all our readers (both of you!) YB
